The Lime Revolution

Are you dealing with damp patches, crumbling plaster, or damaged pointing in your period property? Struggling to find a tradesperson who understands how to work with traditional buildings? At Keenan Able, we get it—and we’re here to help.

Specialist Lime Services by Keenan Able

Lime has been a cornerstone of building for centuries, and for good reason. At Keenan Able, we’re proud to specialise in lime-based building techniques, offering our clients sustainable, breathable, and long-lasting solutions for their projects.

Unlike modern cement, lime allows buildings to “breathe,” regulating moisture and preventing damp. It’s flexible and durable, which makes it ideal for heritage properties where movement and preservation are key. It also supports healthier living spaces, improving air quality and reducing the risk of structural damage over time.

The benefits of lime go far beyond traditional buildings. Increasingly, lime is becoming the material of choice for modern builds, thanks to its sustainability and performance. Whether it’s rendering, pointing, or plasterwork, our team uses lime to deliver beautiful, functional finishes that respect both the property and the environment.

If you’re curious about how lime can benefit your project, we’d love to share our expertise. Contact us today to learn more about how we’re leading the Lime Revolution.

We specialise in traditional limework for restoration, conservation, and eco-conscious building across Cumbria. Whether you're tackling persistent damp, correcting previous cement-based repairs, or restoring a listed property with care, our experienced team brings the skill, sensitivity, and craftsmanship your home deserves.

From lime pointing and plastering to full heritage restoration, we deliver breathable, long-lasting finishes that protect and preserve your building—naturally.

I approached Scott for a quote to fix seriously leaking guttering at the back of my house. Scott visited to view the guttering and then gave a me a quote that I felt was more than reasonable. Scott and a colleague came very soon after quoting and replaced the gutters and downpipe at the back the house. They did a great job, were a pleasure to have around and very unobtrusive as I was working from home. They left the garden and work area clean and tidy, disposed of the old guttering for me, though they did leave me with two pieces to attach to the wall grow Strawberries in! Project for next year! Thanks for that advise Scott. Scott, took a look at the chimney and advised that I had cracking around the chimney breast. One for me to watch. At the time, I was also able to introduce him to a friend who needed works doing at their house and was looking for a reputable builder. I was more than happy to recommend him and will be happy to recommend him to others in the future.
